The Community Foundation serving SW Colorado is proud to present Elizabeth Smart as part of our Making a Difference Speaker Series.
Join us on October 8 at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts for important conversations about overcoming childhood trauma and becoming empowered.
Elizabeth Smart, survivor, advocate and best-selling author will share her personal story about being abducted from her home when she was 14 years old and held prisoner for nine grueling months. Surviving, and now thriving as an advocate, Smart shows us that it is possible to overcome extreme adversity and take control of your future, and also to light the way for others.
Smart’s discussion will cover child advocacy, victim assistance and recovery. Her remarkable healing journey, will provide insights into resilience, strength, and the power of overcoming adversity. Join us in discussing the local resources available to support victims and programs for recovery and empowerment.
The Community Foundation’s Making a Difference Speaker Series is designed to inspire conversation, prompt action, and bring a new perspective on an important community topic.
