Ever watched a comedy sketch and thought, “I could totally write that!”?
Now’s your chance. Lickety-Split Comedy and a Thingamajig Theatre Company are proud to announce Sketch Comedy 101 — a brand-new class for anyone ready to turn their wild ideas, weird characters, and shower thoughts into hilarious, stage-ready comedy. Classes will be held Monday evenings 6-9pm beginning August 25 and running through November 10. Showcase will be held November 14 at 7pm at PSCA.
Leading the class is Scott Morehead, a former resident company member at The Second City in Chicago (yes, that Second City—the one that launched the careers of Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, and Chris Farley). He’s bringing big laughs, sharp instincts, and years of professional sketch-writing and performing experience straight to your backyard.
Sketch Comedy 101 is perfect for absolute beginners, curious writers, improv performers, and anyone who wants to learn the art and craft of writing comedy that works on stage. Over the course of 12 weeks, students will explore how to brainstorm, pitch, write, and polish original comedy sketches—culminating in a live performance.
“Sketch Comedy allows us to skewer the foibles of human nature and our modern society — it’s good practice to laugh at ourselves and Scott is an expert at finding the funny in some of the darkest places” says Lickety-Split co-founder Karisa Bruin
Classes begin August 25, meeting weekly on Monday evenings at Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. The sketch show will be on November 14 at 7pm. All are welcome—no experience required, just a willingness to be funny, bold, and maybe a little weird.
Spots are limited. To register or learn more, visit https://www.crowdwork.com/e/sketch-comedy-101

We seek to create opportunities for all people to expand their ability to become their authentic selves through creative, performance-based work like improvisation and acting. We do this by fostering a warm and supportive environment in which all participants can grow by allowing themselves the time and space to fail, experiment, and fly. We craft an environment of kindness, respect, and accountability, where all participants are equally responsible for the energy in the room. Through this work, our students become more competent, confident, and creative.
